POV
POV is a work developed during a two-month research and production phase for the Glasgow International Biennale’s exhibition Hubris by Civic Room. The title—an abbreviation for both 'Point of View' and 'Persistence of Vision'—alludes to perceptual phenomena often referenced in videography. For this contribution, Wassili Widmer explored memory and its transmission as a transhumanist process: an evolution of experience beyond the human body’s confines.
In collaboration with four performers, Wassili investigated memory transmission through collective physical experimentation. Each performer began by creating a cosplay of a fictional character, then translated a significant personal memory into a performative action. These actions were integrated into a shared rhythmic sequence: first replicated by the group, then reinterpreted through individual movement vocabularies.
POV thus interrogates how emotional understanding might emerge through embodied imitation—and how actions evolve when filtered through others.
